Blue Magnolia House, Hobart - MGArchitecture.Interiors

I was commissioned by MG.Architecture to create a portfolio of photographs capturing Blue Magnolia House.  Located on the fringe of Hobart central business district, the design is an addition to the original heritage listed stone building built in the 1840s.

Creating photographs of Blue Magnolia House required skill to capture it amongst neighbouring properties within this urban context. This involved scouting the surrounding areas of the property including neighbouring streets in order to find perspectives to make photographs.  I've enjoyed all the projects I’ve worked on for clients, no one job is the same, they all offer their own challenges to work through in creating images that sing.

Blue Magnolia house was shortlisted in the 2018 House Awards for - "house in a heritage context".  The design was shortlisted for the 2018 Australian Institute of Architects Heritage Award, saying of the design, "the considered design by MG.Architecture maintained the integrity of the original structure, allowing it to become a central feature of the build...The project is an exercise in restraint that provides an enhanced level of amenity whilst ensuring that the heritage values of a building continue to be appreciated and enjoyed"

I worked on capturing photographs throughout the entire day and into the evening that ensured I captured Blue Magnolia House in all its moods providing the MG.Architecture with a diverse range of photographs from which they could choose from.
